Values & Principles

  • I will bring honesty and transparency; we will have open communication.

  • I believe although we may disagree, we will understand how decisions were made.

  • I believe in everyone's capability and will be the Leadership Coach.

  • I bring high expectations to the role and to all those I work with.

  • I will bring a great attitude and culture to the working table.

  • I will bring a smile every day to this community, as I always have done.

Priorities

1

Infrastructure

Develop projects based on reliable data and financial models that meets the needs of the residents. We will increase economic activities to create funds without arbitrarily raising taxes.

2

Growth

As the demographics of our municipality continues to change,

we need logical growth in

housing and living options.

We will promote innovative housing solutions for seniors and retired residents.

3

Economy

We will support our current businesses and our small

business owners.

We can also make South Dundas an attractive option for anyone who wants to start their own business.

We will be aggressive in bringing in new jobs and new residents.

4

Services

The role of your council is to make your life easier - not more complicated.

We will improve our Garbage/Compost/Waste Management solutions so they make sense to our residents.

We will also collectively be more productive.

5

Recreation

I value recreation as one of the key components of a vibrant community. This is where I have made a difference in my time in South Dundas.

I will listen to volunteer groups and other stakeholders so they have input into a dynamic recreation plan that meets the needs of all residents of South Dundas, regardless of age.

6

Governance

Your local government should act as a helping hand to its residents, business and dwelling owners.

I believe in resident-focused governance and service.

If any resident is looking to improve their home or business, the township should be the friendly face, not a roadblock.

Question of the Week.

Question of the Week - #1 Background.

Jason Broad, 51, Morrisburg 24 years

Married to Shelley Casselman; two children (Cameryn and Joshua)

Employment: Leadership Coach (BizXcel Brockville); retired HR Leader (Procter & Gamble)

Relevant training and/or community service: Since our family settled in South Dundas, I have been an active volunteer in the recreation community (minor hockey, youth baseball, and golf). Through these experiences, I have led large teams by leading meetings, creating agendas and priorities, and maintaining budgets. I’m proud to have spent two decades of community service to provide recreational opportunities for all members of the community.

Political background and/or related experience: Through my two decades of community service, I have worked with all local stakeholders. I have prepared and presented proposals for council, improved recreation programs and facilities, and by hosting youth baseball tournaments, have brought thousands of tourists into the municipality. After these two decades of community service and leadership, the natural next step is to be Mayor of this great community.

Question of the Week - #2 Family Matters.

Family Matters – Recreation is an important part of growing a vibrant community in South Dundas. It attracts people to visit and move here. If elected, what are your priorities for supporting existing recreation programming and responding to the recreation needs of South Dundas now and for the next several years?

The Municipality is currently reviewing an outsourced Recreation Plan. That plan does not meet the standard this community should expect. Community voices were not heard. Instead, I will listen to volunteer groups and other stakeholders so they have input into what should be a dynamic plan that meets the needs of all residents of South Dundas, regardless of age.

I will encourage all members of council and staff to increase their interactions with our volunteer groups to help them increase their registration and the volunteer base. We will work alongside all the selfless volunteers to make their programs successful.

We will also improve our facilities by aggressively pursuing Provincial and Federal grant money, like I did when I helped bring a $45,000 Grant from the Toronto Blue Jays to upgrade the Morrisburg baseball diamond in 2020.

I value recreation as one of the key components of a vibrant community. This is where I have made a difference in my time in South Dundas. And I will continue to.
